Abstract Background Sarcocystis hirsuta , a tissue cyst-forming coccidian parasite of cattle, is worldwide in distribution. In spite its global presence, limited literature available on characterization studies. No from India molecular aspects S. hirsuta. The present study was designed to characterize the isolates 18S gene locus. A total five were characterized. PCR products cloned, sequenced, and compared with other sequences across world. phylogenetic tree constructed based maximum parsimony (MP) method tree–bisection–regrafting (TBR) algorithm. Results An appreciable genetic variability noticed between various at Sequences generated (MN121567–MN121571) represented two haplotypes 99.74–100.00% nucleotide homology within themselves. Alongside, 97.82–99.92% observed Indian globe. markedly distinct each 3 substitutions Overall, close those China Vietnam than New Zealand, Brazil, Germany. Conclusion communication describes first report India. findings are very much important delineating evolutionary phylogenetics .
